Visakhapatnam (also known as Vizag) is situated in Andhra Pradesh,India. This is the second largest city of Andhra Pradesh. Vizag is popularly known as City of Destiny. Vizag city is the home to several heavy industries and it is also an important port city. It is only natural harbour on the eastern coast of India. This city derived its name Visakhapatnam from the king who ruled this part with the name “Visakha Varma”. And the word ‘Patnam” is the Telugu word for city. Main commercial and shopping centres are located in Dwarakanagar , R.T.C. complex area and Jagadamba Junction area. Dwarakanagar and RTC complex areas are famous for new shopping malls.
The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd were the two Multi billion dollar investments in Vizag City. Vizag city seen its main growth after the Steel Plant was setup here.
Vizag is also considered as a centre for education in the state of Andhra Pradesh. There are several primary high schools and college level institutions.
There are many places like Beach, Zoological park, Submarine museum, Hill stations, Kailashagiri, Bhimili beach, Rushikonda beach ,Tenneti Park.
There are many famous Temples also in and around Vizag like Simhachalam, KanakaMahalakshmi Temple, Sagar Durga Temple,Vemana Mandiram, Kalimatha Temple.
